Funeral services for Aaron Goll of Alexandria, MN, formerly of Hancock, MN will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church near Morris, MN, with Reverend Michael Hanson officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Cyrus South Cemetery, Cyrus, MN.
Aaron Howard Goll, son of Howard and Edna (Matzke) Goll, was born March 29, 1977 in Morris, MN. He grew up on the family farm west of Hancock, graduating from Hancock High School in 1995. Aaron was a three sport athlete at Hancock, participating in football, track and basketball and continued his basketball career at the collegiate level. Aaron pursued his post-secondary education at the University of Minnesota (Crookston) for two years, before transferring to Dakota Wesleyan University (DWU) in Mitchell, South Dakota. At DWU he received his Bachelor of Arts in Business and following graduation, he moved to Minneapolis where he volunteered and coached men's basketball at Crown College. During this time he also obtained his Master's Degree in Athletic Administration from St Mary's University of Minnesota. After receiving his Master's Degree, Aaron moved to Columbia, Missouri and worked in the athletic department at the University of Missouri. In 2008, he moved to Alexandria, MN, where he began working for Thrivent Financial. In 2013, Aaron discovered his true passion of working in agriculture and became a marketing specialist for Van Ahn & Company, where he was employed until the time of his death.
Aaron attended Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. He enjoyed fishing and other outdoor activities; refereeing basketball games; helping in the fields on the family farm; and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for being a gentle and caring man, who always thought of others first.
Aaron lost his battle with cancer on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Knute Nelson in Alexandria, MN. He was 37 years old.
He is survived by his parents: Howard and Edna Goll of Hancock; sister: Melanie (Chad) Solvie of Seabeck, WA; twin sister: Caron Goll of Apple Valley; two nephews and one niece: Blake, Grant and Hannah Solvie, Seabeck, WA and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: John and Bertha Goll and Anton and Auguste Matzke and nephew, Noah Solvie.
