Abby Colleen Stone

Memorial services for Abby Stone of Hoffman, formerly of Morris, Minnesota, will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris with Reverend Dan Belgum officiating.  Visitation will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Abby Colleen Rach, daughter of Thomas and Patti (Backberg) Rach, was born August 4, 1980 in Staples, Minnesota. She was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Morris.  Abby attended Morris Elementary School where she was very active in Dance.  During high school, Abby played volleyball, basketball and most of all loved cheerleading. She graduated with the Morris High School class of 1998. Following her graduation, Abby attended St. Cloud Technical College, where she received an associates degree, and worked many years as a surgical tech.  Later on, Abby attended MSCTC in Fergus Falls to achieve her RN degree.  Her first job as an RN was for Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris and later at Sanford Health in the Dialysis unit.   On June 19, 2018, Abby was united in marriage to David Stone in the back yard of their farm place near Hoffman.  Abby went on to work at Evansville Care Center Nursing Home, Skyview in Morris and most recently worked for the State of Minnesota C.A.R.E. unit in Fergus Falls.

Abby enjoyed camping and going on vacation with family, and spending time with family and friends.  She loved and adored all of her children, becoming mama #2 to David’s children, building a family of five children together. She especially enjoyed watching their dance and sporting events.  She also loved her mama Marilyn dearly, sharing 45-minute weekly talks.  Abby and her son Tyler had a love for sunsets and sunrises, a hobby they both shared with each other.  She will be missed by all of her friends and family.

Abby passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the age of 42.

She is survived by her husband: David Stone of Hoffman; four children: Devin Stone of Cyrus, Colin Dostal of Hoffman, Taryne Dostal of Hoffman and Kaylee Lott of Ellendale, ND; two brothers: Chris (Christy) Rach of Elizabethton, TN and Justin (Shelly) Rach of St. Louis Park; parents-in-law: Marilyn Stone-Bauer and Dave Bauer and several aunts, uncles and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her son: Tyler Stone; parents: Patti and Tom Rach; cousin: Christine Rach and grandparents: Herman and Martha Rach and Melvin and Cecelia Backberg.
