Adelaine Berg

The funeral for Adelaine Berg, of Starbuck, will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Minnewaska Lutheran Church in Starbuck with Reverend Todd Klemme officiating. A visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Burial will be at the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, rural Starbuck.

Adelaine Marian Rorvig, daughter of Martin and Alma (Feigum) Rorvig was born on April 17, 1924 in New Prairie Township, near Cyrus, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Cyrus Lutheran Church. Adelaine grew up in the Cyrus area where she attended school. She was united in marriage to Leander E. Berg on February 2, 1945 in Benson, MN at the Trinity Lutheran Church Parsonage. Following their marriage, they farmed in rural Starbuck, moving into Starbuck in 1974. Adelaine did various jobs until she started working at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood in the housekeeping department. She enjoyed working there for over 17 years. Adelaine continued to live at home until she moved into the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in May of 2011.

Adelaine enjoyed baking, making lefse, krumkake and rosettes – a true Norwegian! She enjoyed being outside, especially mowing the lawn. She enjoyed listening to old time music and playing cards. Most importantly, she enjoyed the time that was spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Adelaine was a member of Minnewaska Lutheran Church in Starbuck.

Adelaine died peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck at the age of 92 years, eight months and 28 days.

Adelaine is survived by her children: Larry (Verletta) Berg of Becker, Allan (Deborah) Berg of Starbuck, Sharon (Jerrol) Halvorson of Bloomington; 6 grandchildren: Nancy (Ghassan Alameri) Halvorson of Mission Viejo, CA, Susan (Patrick) Butler of Lakeville, Michelle (Martin) Eng of Nowthen, Jennifer (Robert) Simon of Big Lake, Kristen (Sean) Thorson of Becker and Terri (Dustin) Schulz of Glenwood; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Maxine Hohn of Starbuck and Donna (Irving) Dewey of Fergus Falls and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leander; parents; two brothers: Norval and Milton Rorvig; two sisters: Doris Norlien and Phyllis Medalen; 4 brothers-in-law: Lester Hohn, Raymond Beiswanger, Kenneth Norlien and Harlan Medalen; two sisters-in-law, Pearl and Jean Rorvig.
