Adeline Barsness

April 3, 1920 — November 23, 2007

Adeline Myra Amundson Barsness was born on April 3, 1920, in Langhei Township to Amund and Mary Amundson. Adeline was baptized May 2, 1920 by Rev. Christopher Pederson at East Zion Lutheran Church, confirmed March 25, 1934 by Rev. Casper Johnshoy at Fron Lutheran Church.

Adeline has always lived in or near Starbuck, where she grew up with three sisters and three brothers. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Luvern Linden Barsness on September 20, 1940 at Fron Lutheran Church by Rev. Casper Johnshoy. The 20 years that Adeline and Luvern were married they had three children, Lou Ann, Lindy and Dodie. They enjoyed dancing, card parties and spending time with their family. They owned and operated three different cafes in Starbuck, where they did the cooking, baking and serving. They also started and operated the Dairy Queen in Starbuck. Luvern died August 2, 1960 at the age of 44 after suffering with heart problems for many years. Adeline was only 40 years old when Luvern passed away.

She was employed as a secretary for Landaas and Pederson and Starbuck Iron. She also worked at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home for five years.

Adeline always worked hard and was a great example to everyone she met. She enjoyed dancing, embroidery, needlework, going shopping with her friends, though her first love was her family. She loved having fun and always had a smile. The last eight years she has resided at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck where everyone said her smile made their day.

Adeline died Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, having lived to reach the age of 87 years.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of the Minnewaska Lutheran Home for their compassionate, constant, and loving care to Adeline these last years.
