The funeral for Albert Joos, of Hancock, Minnesota will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, near Morris. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Apostolic Church Cemetery, near Morris.

Albert Joos, son of Otto and Rose (Traub) Joos, was born on December 23, 1915 at Stark County in Illinois. When Albert was a young boy, the family moved to a farm near Tinney, Minnesota. Three years later, the family moved to Bertha, Minnesota, where Albert attended first grade. A few years later, the family moved to a farm near Hancock, Minnesota, where Albert attended school in District #65 and finished the 8th grade in District #16. He then worked on the family farm and milked cows.

On October 31, 1943, Albert was united in marriage to Edith Nellie Zeltwanger at Morris, Minnesota. The couple lived and farmed in Horton Township and later purchased a farm in the Hancock area. Edith died on August 26, 2003. Albert continued to live near Hancock until 2007, when he moved to the Skyview Court in Morris. He became a resident at the West Wind Village before entering the Courage Cottage in Morris.

Albert enjoyed fishing, gardening, feeding livestock and farming. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Albert served on the Hancock Co-Op Creamery Board for 39 years. He loved being with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Albert died on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, Minnesota. He was 94 years old.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Joos, Minneapolis, MN, and Jerry Joos, Hancock, MN; two daughters, Jan Knapp, Peoria, IL and Barb (Rod) Heimer, Taylor, MO; ten grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, his parents, one daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers for the funeral will be Scott Joos, Brandon Schock, Shane Joos, Aaron Schock, Jamie Joos, Jesse Heimer and Jacob Heimer. Honorary pallbearers will be Mitchell Hoerr, Peyton Joos, Billy Waibel, Creighton Schock, Blake Joos, Gideon Joos, Max Heimer and Ridge Snyder. The Apostolic Christian Church Choir will provide special music for the service.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the rrangements.
