Alda Deloris Reiners, daughter of Henry and Hildegard (Maus) Reiners, was born March 26, 1929, in Lone Tree Township, Minnesota. She was baptized in April 1929, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City and confirmed in June 1943 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hancock. Alda grew up on the family farm south of Hancock, where she graduated from Hancock High School in 1947. Following her schooling, Alda worked at the Hancock State Bank. On June 2, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald DeGier at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hancock by Reverend H. C. Duehlmeier. Following their marriage, the couple started farming north of Hancock, then later moved to a farm south of town. They later purchased a farm southwest of Starbuck on Lake Emily, where the couple continued to live until Don passed away in 2010. Alda moved to Alexandria shortly after, where she continued to live until her passing.

Alda was a charter member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morris and had a passion for singing hymns. She also belonged to the local Homemakers Club near Starbuck. Alda enjoyed gardening, reading, baking (especially her famous caramel rolls), and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alda will always be known for her accepting and caring nature that she shared with the many people who called her "grandma".

Alda died on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at her son's home in Echo, having reached the age of 87 years.

Alda is survived by six children: Cheryl (Foster) Bucher of Centralia, WA, Randall (Brenda) DeGier of LaCrosse, WI, Jerry (Jill) DeGier of Sun Valley, CA, Dennis (Linda) DeGier of Holmen, WI, Kenneth (Jean) DeGier of Echo and Greg DeGier of Alexandria; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters; one brother and one daughter-in-law; Mary DeGier.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to a charity of personal choosing.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
