Memorial services for Alice Hallman of Morris, MN will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, MN. Reverend Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kongsvinger Cemetery near Donnelly, MN.
Alice Odella Devick, daughter of Arne and Gina (Johnson) Devick, was born February 28, 1926 in Donnelly, Minnesota, where she grew up and was baptized and confirmed at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church. Alice attended grade school at District #7 and graduated from Alberta High School in 1944. On July 12, 1944, she was united in marriage to LaVern Hansen at Kongsvinger Parsonage. Six children were born to this union, Michael, Linda, Susan, Deborah, Robert and Shirley. Alice and her family moved around a lot while LaVern managed co-ops around Minnesota. During this time Alice stayed home to take care of their children. In the 1970's, Alice worked on the assembly line at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, MN. On June 11, 1977, she was united in marriage to George Hallman at the First Lutheran Church in Morris. Following their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm in Chokio, MN, where Alice helped on the farm for 23 years. She loved to travel with George during the winter months to all parts of Europe and took numerous trips on the Riley Bus Tours.
Alice was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, in particular whist, watching Wheel of Fortune, playing games and especially spending time with her family.
Alice died on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 88 years.
She is survived by two daughters: Linda (Tom) Maloney of North Branch and Shirley (Darrel) Sunquist of New London Spicer; one son: Robert (Sherryl) Hansen of Thief River Falls; three step-children: Harvey (Laurie) Hallman of Nicollet, Christine (Wayne) Gaston of New Port News, VA and Kyla Hallman of Willmar; one sister: Corinne Jackson of Starbuck; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband: LaVern Hansen; second husband: George Hallman; one son: Michael Hansen; two daughters: Deborah Pritchard and Susan Pickett; three brothers: Gordon, Odin and Arland and three sisters: Bernice Enquist, Ruth Sands and Gladys Clark.
