Alice Emma Koetz, daughter of Anna Fabian and Charles Koetz, was born June 13, 1913 in Homer, Minnesota. As a young child, she moved with her family to eastern North Dakota, where she grew up with 11 brothers and sisters. On November 7, 1938, she married Edwin Hans Nordby in Elbow Lake, Minnesota. They farmed in the Leonard, North Dakota area for ten years. Their only child, Sharon, was born during that time. In 1949, they moved to Morris, Minnesota, where they lived the remainder of their lives. Prior to Ed's death in 1988, Alice partnered with him in farming, gardening, soft water and septic business and as caretakers at West Central Christian Homes.
Alice was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris. She enjoyed gardening, baking cookies, canning and sharing the harvest with friends and family.
Alice died on Thursday, December 01, 2005 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 92 years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Sharon (Richard) Pederson of Coon Rapids; three grandchildren: Scott (Julia) Pederson of Andover, Dawn (Wade) Boettcher of North Branch and Kristi (Chuck) Guetti of Stanchfield; six great-grandchildren: Alexandra, Anthony, Benjamin, Katelyn, Katherine and Taylor and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for the service are: Scott and Julia Pederson, Dawn and Wade Boettcher and Kristi and Chuck Guetti. Honorary pallbearers are: Alexandra, Anthony, Benjamin, Dean, Katelyn, Katherine and Taylor. Deb Mahoney will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to First Lutheran Church or the SCMC Hospice Courage Cottage in Morris.
