Allen Anderson

Funeral services for Allen Anderson of Morris, formerly of Donnelly, Minnesota, will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Morris, Minnesota, with Reverend Michael Hanson officiating.  Visitation will be hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Kongsvinger Lutheran Cemetery, rural Donnelly, Minnesota.

Allen Emil Anderson, son of Emil and June (Ekholm) Anderson was born April 27, 1955 at the Stevens County Memorial Hospital in Morris.  He grew up on the family farm near Donnelly and attended school in Donnelly though the 6th grade. He then attended school in Morris, graduating from Morris High School Class of 1973.  After high school, Allen farmed with his father for several years until his retirement.  Allen and his father continued to raise around 20 head of cattle until his mother’s stroke in 1988.  After that, they began to downsize the herd and finally sold the last of their cattle in the fall of 2001.  Allen worked part-time for over 20 years for Walter Anderson and other farmers in the area.  In later years, Allen took care of his father who passed away in 2005.   Allen later moved to Morris where he continued to live until the time of his death.

Allen was a lifelong member of Kongsvinger Lutheran Church and in his later years, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  Allen currently served as the president of the Stevens County Genealogical Society; he was a member of the Donnelly Community Club and was the head of West Wind Village family and friend’s council for over 10 years. In April 2008, he began writing the Donnelly News and continued to until the time of his death.

Allen died Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota.  He was 66 years old.

He is survived by several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
