Alvin Mauch

The funeral for Alvin Lee Mauch, of Chokio, Minnesota will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Morris, with Reverend Marlin Mohrman officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Chokio Lutheran Cemetery, Chokio. Military rites will be provided by the Chokio American Legion.

Alvin Lee Mauch, son of Edward and Elsie (Faatz) Mauch was born on August 12, 1933 in Milboro, South Dakota, the youngest of eleven children. The family moved to a farm near Chokio in the fall of 1937, where they were engaged in farming. They farmed with four horses brought over from South Dakota. Alvin was drafted and served in the United States Army for two years and received a letter of commendation from his commanding officer for exceptional service.

Alvin accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior as a young boy and was baptized at Big Stone Camp for Christ. He attended Oak Hills Bible School and the Minnesota School of Business.

Alvin was married to Jean Oeltjenbruns on March 30, 1968. To this union two daughters were born, Mary Jo and Michelle.

He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Morris and the Gideon Bible Organization. He enjoyed farming and watching things grow and also working at Town and Country Supply. He was a good steward of the land. Alvin enjoyed visiting with friends and family. He prayed daily for his children and grandchildren.

Alvin died on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at his home in Chokio, Minnesota. He was 80 years old.

He is survived by his wife: Jean Mauch of Chokio; two daughters: Mary Jo Mauch of Fargo, ND and Michelle (Rory) Ibes of Jamestown, ND; three grandchildren; three brothers: Ervine Mauch of Rockford, IL, Richard (Delores) Mauch of Chokio and Edwin (Ruth) Mauch of Ontario Canada and two sisters: Edith Black of Portland, OR and Edna Hansen of Isanti. He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters: Esther Budicin, Martha Burmeister, Margaret Ruwe, Lydia Nash and Lois Rilley.
