The funeral service for Alvina Nelson of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Frog Lake Cemetery, rural Alberta.
Alvina Charlotte Kolden, daughter of Hans and Olga (Anderson) Kolden, was born on March 5, 1917 in Alberta, Minnesota where she grew up and attended school, graduating from Alberta High School. On October 10, 1941, she was united in marriage to Elmer Nelson at the Reque Lutheran Church in Alberta, Minnesota. The couple later moved and raised their family of three boys in Minneapolis and Edina, Minnesota. The eldest son, Victor became a physician and the twin boys, Bryan and Bruce both became attorneys. Elmer and Alvina returned to their roots and moved to their home in Morris in 1993. Elmer died February 4, 1996. Alvina continued to live in Morris until the time of her death.
Alvina was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Morris and a devout Christian. She had an affable personality and smile, and loved to play board games.
Alvina died Friday, November 20, 2015 at Wildflower Lodge Assisted Living in Maple Grove, Minnesota. She lived to reach the age of 98 years.
She is survived by three sons: Victor A. (Debbie) Nelson of Houston, TX, Bryan M. (Wendi) Nelson of Carson City, NV, and Bruce M. (Cynthia) Nelson of Spokane Valley, WA; eight grandchildren: Kirsten (Stephen) Lew, Barrett Nelson, Johnny Nelson, Bryan T. (Eline) Nelson, Kara (Mike) Coudriet, Jarrett (Heather) Nelson, Sara Nelson and Joshua Nelson; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Elmer A. Nelson; her parents; five brothers: Fred, Clarence, Raymond, Arnold and Curtis Kolden; and one sister: Harriet Brown.
