Anna Swartz

Anna Mae Goulet, daughter of Iva Goulet, was born May 18, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She grew up on a farm in rural Benson and was raised by her grandmother, Laura Goulet. Anna Mae graduated from Benson High School in 1944. After graduation Anna Mae worked as a Teletype operator in Minneapolis, Chicago and Washington, D.C. On October 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to Earl Swartz at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. Anna Mae lived in Benson, Appleton and Starbuck. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother. Anna Mae and Earl owned and operated a real estate office in Starbuck. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Starbuck.




Anna Mae died on Friday, October 17, 2008 at Glacial Ridge Health System in Glenwood, MN, having lived to reach the age of 82 years.




She is survived by her husband: Earl Swartz of Starbuck; eight children: Bonnie (Bob) Haugen of Apple Valley, Greg Swartz of Starbuck, Deborah (Mike) Chow of Kingwood, TX, Daniel (Sheila) Swartz of Starbuck, Bradley (Kathy) Swartz of Glenwood, Michael (Berta) Swartz of Glenwood and Jamestown, ND, Jeffrey (Rae) Swartz of Waukon, IA and Lisa Swartz of St. Paul; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.




Serving as Urn bearers for the service are: Anna Mae’s Grandsons: Thomas Haugen, Aaron Swartz, Nick Swartz, Joe Swartz, Bobby Swartz and Max Swartz. Honorary pallbearers are Anna Mae’s granddaughters: Jessica Haugen, Sara Richards, Julie Swartz and Samantha Swartz. Jessica Haugen and Joe Swartz will serve as readers. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
