Anthony Boon

January 5, 1922 — January 14, 2008

Anthony "Tony" Boon, son of Peter and Jenny Boon, was born January 5, 1922 at Estelline, South Dakota. After his schooling, Tony worked on the family farm with his father. On February 6, 1943, Tony entered the U.S. Merchant Marine, serving during WWII until his discharge on July 9, 1945. Tony then made his home in the Hancock area, where he owned and operated an Auto Wrecking Yard for a few years before moving to Morris, where he operated the same type of business in that area for several years. In 1983, Tony was married to Marvis May Sops at the First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. Tony later operated similar auto wrecking and auto body repair businesses in Alexandria and eventually in Villard. After retiring, Tony and Marvis continued to live in Villard, where they were members of St. John's Lutheran Church. On June 27, 2005, Tony entered the Lakeview Good Samaritan Center in Glenwood, where he has lived since that time.

Tony died on Monday, January 14, 2008 at the Lakeview Good Samaritan Center in Glenwood, having lived to reach the age of 86 years.

He is survived by his wife, Marvis Boon of Glenwood, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Dick, John and Peter Boon.
