Ardis Doreen Hoiland was born on December 20, 1927, the youngest child of Ella Berre Hoiland and Selmer T. Hoiland. She attended grades one through seven in country school district 24, the only member of her grade. She heated her Mason jar of homemade soup for lunch on the wood stove in a galvanized water filled container. Trips to the neighbors were taken in a sleigh with a hot water bottle for comfort; the water bottle was most always cold on the way home. In eighth grade this school was closed and she graduated from Cottonwood High School in Cottonwood MN. She worked at the Cottonwood Creamery where she met Leonard Buysse. She married Leonard, after returning the engagement ring of another, in 1954. Their wonderful son, Gary, was born in 1957. Ardis worked at the Cottonwood Coop Oil from 1959 until 1970 when the family moved to Starbuck MN. Ardis worked at the Star Motor Company until her retirement. Ardis also worked part time at the Starbuck Telephone Company.
Ardis was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, The Red Hat Society and Fron Lutheran Church. Jesus was with Ardis every day and his presence was a great source of comfort and joy in her life. She cared deeply for all those around her and was blessed with great friends whom she cherished: you know who you are.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Leonard; a brother, Kermit; a sister, Janice Huseby and her parents, Ella and Selmer.
Ardis is survived by her grandsons, Ethan and Ryan; daughter-in-law, Denise Beck; her son, Gary; nieces, Diane, Wendy and Jan and life long friends.
