Arlan Pieske

Arlan Leonard Pieske, son of Leonard and LaMae (Lackie) Pieske, was born February 5, 1936 in Rural Wanda, Minnesota in Willow Lake Township.He was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Morris, Minnesota. Arlan began his schooling at School District #16 in Horton Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. On June 20, 1956, he was united in marriage to Glenice Anderson. The couple lived in Morris where they raised their children and Arlan worked for DX Station, Lambert Lumber and the Wilbert Vault Company. He was transferred to Redwood Falls, Minnesota where he continued to work for Wilbert Vault Company and later moved back to Cyrus, where he worked for Morris Blacktop. Arlan and Glenice divorced in 1967 and Arlan later married Shirley Hicks Larson. The couple lived in Morris, where Arlan continued to work. In 1984, they were divorced and Arlan moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where he worked at K-Mart until 1993, when he moved back to Hancock. In 1994, Arlan went to work for Riley Brothers in Morris as a truck driver. He continued to work until 2006, when his health started failing. Arlan has continued to live in Hancock with his special friend, Glenice Pieske.



Arlan was a member of the Morris American Legion. He loved to play cards and spend time with his family and friends.



Arlan died on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at his home in Hancock, having lived to reach the age of 72 years.



He is survived by his friend: Glenice Pieske of Hancock; his children: Wendy (Ronald) O'Neal of Wake Forest, NC, Laurie (Pat) Burke of Clayton, NC, Shari Aguillon of Fuquary-Varina, NC, Michael Pieske of Morris and Randy (Angie) Pieske of Hancock; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-sons: Leonard Larson of Morris and Tim Larson of Kensington; one brother: Darrel (Peg) Pieske of Cyrus and one sister: LeAnn (Dennis) Bye of Hancock; sister-in-law: Joanne Pieske of Shakopee; special aunt: Arlene (Sally) Greiner, of Hancock and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Lanette Pieske; one son: James Pieske; his parents: Leonard and LaMae; two brothers: Dean Pieske and James Edward Pieske and one step-son: Johnathan Larson.



Pallbearers for the service are: Jim Riley, Roger Mohrman, Gaylan Greiner, Jay Pieske, Gary Greiner and Larry Greiner, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are all of Arlan?s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rita Lambert will serve as organist for the service with Jere Solvie serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
