The funeral services for Arlene Greiner, of Hancock, will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, near Morris, with Apostolic Christian Church Ministers officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
Arlene Lillian Lackie, daughter of James and Mae (Straw) Lackie was born on September 27, 1929 in Wanda, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended school. She was united in marriage to Emil Greiner on October 1, 1953 in Morris. The couple made their home in Moore Township, near Hancock. Arlene worked as a cook at the Del Monaco Café in Morris. In 1973, she began cooking at the Hancock Public School, retiring in 2000. The couple moved into Hancock in 1994. Emil died on July 24, 2005. Arlene continued to live in Hancock until December of 2012, when she entered West Wind Village in Morris.
She enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching and meeting friends for coffee.
Arlene died on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Bethany Home in Alexandria, Minnesota. She was 83 years old.
She is survived by two sons, Allan (Kathy) Greiner and Gaylan (Mary) Greiner all of Hancock; one son-in-law, Dan Eystad, Morris; twelve grandchildren, Heidi Greiner, Hayley Eystad, Autumn Eystad, Rhianna Eystad, Trever Eystad, Jennifer Walters, Tyson (Carey) Giese, Casey (Seth) Sinnema, Lucas Giese, Joshua (Colleen) Giese, Debra Christie and Rebecca Long; ten great-grandchildren, Zachary Greiner, Amber Giese, Taylor Giese, Jacey Giese, Kylie Rietsema, Patrick Casey-Giese, Shane Giese, Dylan Christie, Jennifer Christie and Katie Christie. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Lynette Eystad, her parents, and one sister, Lamae Pieske.
