Arlette Gloria Chevalier, daughter of Edward and Pauline (Nienaber) Chevalier, was born December 16, 1921 in Hancock, Minnesota. She grew up and received her education in the Cyrus area, graduating from the Cyrus High School. Following her graduation, she attended beauty school in Minneapolis, before returning to the Cyrus area. On May 27, 1942, she was united in marriage to Luther Hogy at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. The couple made their home in Morris, where they raised their family. She later worked at the Super Value Store and the Gold Bond Redemption Center. Luther died on May 2, 1977. On December 26, 1981, she was united in marriage to Floyd Spaulding in Morris. The couple made their home in Chokio until Floyd's death on March 13, 1987. Arlette returned to Morris, where she has lived since that time. The last few years, she has resided at Skyview Court and at West Wind Village.
Arlette was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris and the Morris American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.
Arlette died on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 84 years.
She is survived by four children: Cheryl (George) Fougeron of Edgewater, MD, Maureen (Gene) Olson of Erie, CO, Jerry (Kathy) Hogy of Redwood Falls, MN and Michael (Kerry) Hogy of Woodbury, MN; seven grandchildren: Jean-Paul (Monica) Fougeron, Julie (Todd) Estey, Michelle Olson, Michael (Jane) Olson, Sarah Hogy, Chris Hogy and Amy Hogy; 4 great-grandchildren: Jackson and Vivian Fougeron and Olivia and Elanor Olson; one sister: Donna Miller of Minneapolis and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands and her parents.
Pallbearers for the service are Arlette's grandchildren: Jean-Paul Fougeron, Julie Estey, Michelle Olson, Michael Olson, Sarah Hogy, Chris Hogy and Amy Hogy. Ken and Linda Hodgson will serve as pianist and songleader for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society.
