Arnold Kolden

January 28, 1923 — November 9, 2006

Arnold J. Kolden, son of Hans and Olga (Anderson) Kolden, was born January 28, 1923 in Alberta, Minnesota, where he grew up and lived south of Alberta, on the North Shore of Frog Lake. He was baptized and confirmed at Reque Lutheran Church. While he was growing up he attended Country School District #24 and also helped his parents and family on the family farm. On December 28, 1944, Arnold enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as Technician 5th Grade with the 57th Field Artillery Battalion. He received an honorable discharge on November 25, 1946. Following his discharge, Arnold returned to Alberta, where he continued to farm until 1948, when he went custom harvesting with two of his life long friends, Walter and Arnold Boettcher. He met Betty Beebe in 1947 and they began their journey as life partners on March 23, 1951 at First Lutheran Church in Morris by Pastor Larson. The couple moved to the "Old Boettcher Farm" from 1952, where they continued to farm and raise their family and Arnold also worked for Richard's Produce and at the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris. In 1960, they moved to the NW side of Frog Lake, where they continued to farm and raise pigs. Arnold retired in 1981. Following his retirement, he started doing more of his life long hobby in woodworking. He worked in his shop until he was no longer able to hold his hammer. In 2003, Arnold and Betty moved to Morris. After a long period of declining health, Arnold moved to West Wind Village in February, 2006, where he has resided until the time of his death.





Arnold was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris and he also served on the Scott Township Board for 21 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing the shores of Frog Lake with his brothers, friends and sons. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends.





Arnold died on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at SCMC in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 83 years.





He is survived by his wife: Betty Kolden of Morris; four sons: Arnie (Debbie) Kolden of Alberta, Jerry (Deborah) Kolden of Pennock, David (Lisa) Kolden of Milbank, SD and Kirk (Lisa) Kolden of Carlos; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister: Alvina Nelson of Morris; one brother: Curtis Kolden of Morris and three brothers-in-law: Lloyd (Eva) Beebe of Carneys Point, NJ, Marshall (Mildred) Beebe of Mission, TX and Raymond (Jeanne) Beebe of Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Raymond, Clarence and Fredrick Kolden and one sister: Harriet Brown.





Pallbearers for the service are: Jeremy Kolden, Josh Kolden, Mike Kolden, Eric Kolden, Kirby Johnson and Mike Buss. Honorary pallbearers are: Jeni Johnson, Angie Kolden, Troy Gocha, Elizabeth Kolden, Amy Kolden, Jessica Kolden, Nikki Kaisershot, Christopher Kaisershot, Kim Peterson, Rob Peterson, Mindy Kolden, Stacey Kolden and his nieces, nephews and all those who called him friend. ___ will serve as organist for the service with Mary Huebner serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
