Arnold Joel Ronnie was born November 15, 1916 at the Gaupne Farm in Walden Township. He was baptized at Immanuel Church January 1, 1917 by Reverend Nels Forde. He attended School District #45 through the eighth grade and was confirmed in 1931 by Reverend G. O. Forde. It was the last class confirmed in Norwegian.
Because Arnold was the oldest son in the family and was needed on the farm, he did not have the opportunity to go to high school. Arnold and his younger brother, Casper, started farming at a very young age. Arnold was married to Gladys Flaten on June 28, 1945. They lived with his mother and brother on the home place until 1948, when they moved to the Christ Overby farm. They were faithful members of Immanuel Church and he held several offices. Arnold also served on the Starbuck School Board for several years.
The love of Arnold's life was farming and gardening. Following retirement, he remained active tending his gardens and keeping up the property on both his current farm and the family home farm until the time of his death.
Arnold died at his home on Monday, April 3, 2006, at the age of 89 years.
He is survived by his daughters: Cheryl and husband, Dr. Dennis Nousaine and their sons: Christian and Aaron; Ardis and husband, Gary Gillund and their children: Loretta and Dylan; one sister: Sylvia Schram and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Gladys; four sisters: Mabel (Mrs. James Barsness), Ada (Mrs. Julian Pederson), Esther (Mrs. Juel Brenden) and Marion (Mrs. Urness Larson); two brothers: Casper and Joseph and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for the service are: Marlin Larson, Larry Larson, Dan Kvitek, Roger Pederson, Gordon Hagert and Lawrence Barsness. Sylvia Gunderson will serve as organist and soloist for the service. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
