Memorial services for Arvid 'AJ' Wentler, of Chokio, Minnesota, will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Holloway, Minnesota.
Arvid John Wentler was born on May 6, 1958, to Arthur and Mildred (Reuss) Wentler in Appleton, Minnesota. Arvid was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway, Minnesota. He was raised in Holloway and received his education at Appleton Schools. After high school, Arvid enlisted into the National Guard Reserves where he excelled in all that he did. He was in the National Guard for four years and then immediately enlisted into the United States Navy where he served for six more years. He was honorably discharged. Following the military, Arvid worked for many years in various fields, including as a corrections officer and a truck driver for the United States Postal Service. Arvid later attended Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, Minnesota, where he earned an Associate in Applied Science Degree with honors in Mechanical Drafting, Design, and Engineering Technology.
Arvid was united in marriage to Sherry Beyer (Fischer) on July 9, 1993, in Milbank, South Dakota. This union was blessed with one daughter, Emily. He worked as a truck driver for many years. After receiving his Associates degree, he worked for a time in the drafting field, and then later returned to truck driving. Outside of work, Arvid enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and following his favorite sports teams, the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Wild, as well as the Minnesota Lynx.
Arvid died unexpectedly, of natural causes, at his home in Chokio, Minnesota, on November 25, 2024; he was 66 years old.
Arvid is survived by his daughter, Emily Wentler of Hancock; his siblings: Betty Busse of Appleton, Lanny (Dianne) Wentler of Monticello, and Myra (Myron) Behm of Atwater; brother-in-law, Gary Homrighausen of Ortonville; and numerous stepchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Arvid is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred; wife, Sherry; sisters: Vivilor Munsterman and her husband, Ronald, Myrtle Bjorgan and her husband, Kenneth, Elvera Anderson Gilsrud and husbands Gene Anderson and Palmer Gilsrud, Florine Homrighausen, Charlene Lundeen, and Iris Wentler; brother, Jerome Wentler in infancy; and brother-in-law Harlan Busse.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in care of arrangements for Arvid.
