Ben Hector, Jr

Ben Hector, Jr., son of Ben Sr. and Jennie (Lamfers) Hector, was born December 28, 1915 in Ashton, Iowa. When he was four years old, his family moved to a farm near Donnelly. On July 16, 1946, he was united in marriage to Eileen Mecham in Glyndon, Minnesota. Following their marriage, the couple farmed and raised their daughters on the family farm that Ben grew up on. They continued to live there until 1996, when they moved to Morris. Eileen died on November 17, 2004. Ben continued to live in Morris until the time of his death. Ben was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Donnelly. He enjoyed farming and he especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family.



Ben died on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at the West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 90 years.



He is survived by his five daughters: Barbara (Paul) Sorensen of North Mankato, Beverly (Mark) Swango of San Antonio, TX, Linda Robinson of Stillwater, Sandra (Bill) Essendrup of Edina and Carol (Tom) Cobb of Pearl River, LA; nine grandchildren; 1 step grandchild and 3 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Eileen; his son: Wayne Kenneth Hector; his parents: Ben and Jennie and two sisters: Helen Werk and Gladys Huebner.



Pallbearers for the service are: Ken Werk, Bob Werk, Tom Werk, Alan Werk, Bruce Huebner, Gary Huebner and Steve Huebner. Deb Mahoney will serve as organist for the service with Ben's daughters providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
