Bernice Burnham

April 12, 1915 — January 9, 2008

Bernice Lois Huntley, daughter of Leslie and Ella May (Dudley) Huntley, was born April 12, 1915 in Bismarck, North Dakota. At a young age her family moved to Hancock, where she attended and graduated from Hancock High School in 1934. On June 23, 1934, she was united in marriage to Glenn Burnham on her parent?s farm in rural Hancock. To this union three children were born. The couple lived on the Burnham family farm, where they farmed and raised their children. Following their retirement, they moved to Walnut Court in Hancock. Glenn died on February 2, 2006. Bonnie became a resident at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck in September, 2006.

Bonnie was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hancock, where she served as treasure and was also on the ladies aide and the funeral committee. She also belonged to the local Birthday Club and Card Club. She loved to entertain, bake and sew. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Bonnie died on January 9, 2008 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, having lived to reach the age of 92 years.

She is survived by her three children: Ronald (Karen) Burnham of Starbuck, Lois (Paul) Burnham-Sailer of Wadena and Allan (Ilene) Burnham of Morris; seven grandchildren: Chad Burnham, Greg (Kelly) Burnham, Glenn Johnson, Ranee (Wayne) Grunklee, Jody (Michael) Johnson-Huerbin, Heather (Brett) Duncan and Barbara McDonald; 12 great-grandchildren: Theresa Avery, Amy Burnham Baukol, Gideon Burnham, Elizabeth Burnham, Jeremiah Burnham, Hope Burnham, Summer Johnson Huerbin, Hunter Huerbin, Jacob Grunklee, Nathan Grunklee, Krista Duncan and Connor Duncan; one great-great-grandson: Lindell Brooks; one step-granddaughter: Karen (Sailor) Lovold; two step-great-grandchildren: Danielle Sailor and Ella Lovold and one sister-in-law: Vida Huntley of Hancock. She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson: Michael; her parents; two sisters: Eva (Roy) Wells and Lucille (Selby) Nelson and two brothers: Glen (Kay) Huntley and Vernon Huntley.

Pallbearers for the service are: Chad Burnham, Greg Burnham, Glenn Johnson, Wayne Grunklee, Brett Duncan, Michael Huerbin and Gideon Burnham. Honorary pallbearers are: Barbara McDonald, Ranee Grunklee, Jody Johnson-Huerbin and Heather Duncan. Lois Strei will serve as organist for the service with Gary and Elna Smith serving as soloists. Danielle Sailer will provide special music on the flute. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
