Bernice Sommer

January 3, 1939 — April 26, 2010

Bernice Ann Hamilton, daughter of William and Marie (Applebee) Hamilton, was born January 3, 1939 in Oskaloosa , Iowa , where grew up and graduated from Oskaloosa High School . After finishing school Bernice moved to Minneapolis , where she worked at a restaurant her parents owned. She also worked as an accountant for the Masons. While living in Minneapolis , Bernice met Glenn Sommer and they were married on March 18, 1962. To this union four children were born. Following their marriage, the couple moved to the Morris area, where they lived and worked on a farm.





Bernice enjoyed crafts of all kinds, especially knitting, croqueting, and wood carving. She was a very talented artist and loved to create.





Bernice died on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris , MN , having lived to reach the age of 71 years.





She is survived by her husband: Glenn Sommer Sr of Morris; two sons: Jonathan Sommer of Morris and Glenn Jr (Mohammed) Sommer of Chicago, IL; two daughters: Elizabeth Sommer of Morris and Tracy (Jim) Ehrp of Renville and two grandsons: Jacob and Samuel Ehrp. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Therman, Carl and Roger Hamilton.





Pallbearers for the service are: Ed Dablow, Greg Dablow, Keith Koehl, Mohammed Rashid and Francis Straight. Rita Lambert will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
