Bethel Vollmers

January 27, 1921 — June 21, 2010

Bethel Marcella Schumacher, daughter of Ernest and Julia (Dobberstein) Schumacher, was born January 27, 1921 in Claire City, South Dakota. She grew up in Rosholt , South Dakota , where she also attended and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1939. Bethel continued her education at Moorhead College for Teachers Training. Following her schooling, Bethel taught Country School for a couple years. She then met and married Ervin Vollmers on September 5, 1943 in Rosholt , South Dakota . The couple first made their home in Traverse County and then moved to Everglade Township in Stevens County , where they farmed and raised their family. In the early 1990’s, they retired from farming and moved into Morris.





Bethel was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morris, where she held local and district offices on the LWML and made many lasting friendships. Bethel was an avid Precious Moments Collector.





Bethel died on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris , MN , having lived to reach the age of 89 years.





She is survived by daughters: DiAnn (Ron) Jacobson of Crosby, ND and Ruth (David C.) Anderson of Chokio; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: Aaron (Shelbey) Jacobson and their children; Chase, Rider, Race and Windy; Sarah (Tim) Ciavarri and their children Chiara and Jacob; April (Brent) Bauman and their children, Andrew, Matthew, Annika, Owen and Erica; Jennifer (James) Ahrndt and their children Hali and Eli; David (Kim) Jacobson; Nathan Anderson and Stephen Jacobson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Ervin; her parents and two brothers: Floyd and Ralph Schumacher.





Serving as pallbearers for the service are Bethel ’s grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Bethel ’s great-grandchildren. LaDonna Findlay will serve as organist for the service with Sarah Ciavarri serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
