Betty Lou Freske, age 77, Starbuck, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones at the Glacial Trails Assisted Living Center in Starbuck.
Betty Lou Poole was born November 2, 1940 in Greenbush, Minnesota to John and Violet (Brew) Poole. After attending secretarial school, Betty went on to work at a variety of jobs, including Control Data and Toro, and she excelled at all she did. On January 20, 1962 Betty married the love of her life, Bernie Freske, and together they raised a family.
An avid bowler and Scrabble enthusiast, Betty could frequently be found playing board games with her family. She showed her loved ones a keen stubbornness, life jacket safety, and how to properly sort puzzle pieces.
She is survived by her husband: Bernie Freske, Starbuck, MN; three children: Cynthia (Tom Whitney) Freske-Whitney, and Pamela (Jay Shuck) Freske, all of Minneapolis, MN, and Bruce (Tanya) Freske, Starbuck, MN; six grandchildren: Emily Freske, Kearney, NE, Zachary Whitney, St. Louis Park, MN, Jordan Whitney, Commerce Township, MI, Hannah Freske, St. Paul, MN, and Sarah Freske and Alexander Shuck, both of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters: Gloria (Harlan) Kremer, Hastings, MN, and Joyce Logan, Lowry, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John and Doug Poole; and her sister, Shirley Hince.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Betty touched are invited to a visitation on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Starbuck Funeral Home, 106 West 4th Street, Starbuck, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 105 N. Franklin St., Glenwood, MN. Celebrant for the mass will be Father Joe Vandeberg. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Glenwood, Minnesota.
