Elizabeth Arlene Cramer, daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Wirtjes) Cramer, was born November 7, 1925 at her parent’s home in Herman, Minnesota. Betty was the youngest of five children. She grew up and was baptized and later confirmed her faith in the United Methodist Church. She graduated from Herman High School on a Thursday in 1943 and on Friday began working for Judd’s Grocery Store in Herman. On March 5, 1947, Betty was united in marriage to Milo Hurlbut at the First Baptist Church Parsonage in Worthington, Minnesota. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Herman for a few years, before moving to the Hurlbut family farm in Worthington, MN. Milo and Betty later returned to the Herman area, where they purchased a farmstead east of town. Milo continued farming and Betty worked hard keeping a warm comfortable home, cooking, baking and raising their family. In 1960 they retired from farming, purchased a home in Herman and began their own business “Milo’s Electric. Betty helped out with the bookwork for the business. Milo died in November of 1980 and shortly there after Betty moved to the Pullman House in Herman.
Betty was a member of the United Methodist Church in Herman, MN, where she was involved with various groups. She enjoyed baking and cooking. Betty loved hosting family gatherings and always made it a point to make every ones favorite food. Her greatest joy was time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by seven children: Susan (Donavon) Bartz of Farwell, Michael (Sherlyn) Hurlbut of Mesa, AZ, Becky (Don) Schuster of Gary, Laural (Mike) Blaskowski of Willmar, Kristen Lewis of Fergus Falls, Tim (Karen) Hurlbut of Farwell and Tom (Chrisi) Hurlbut of Murrieta, CA; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband:Milo; one grandson: Darrin Schuster; her parents; one sister: Millie and three brothers: Jake, Bud and Henry.
