Beverly Jean Anderson, daughter of Albert and Pearl (Henrichs) Anderson, was born December 13, 1948 in Morris. She was baptized at the family's home December 30, 1948 by Reverend Alfred Sevig. Bev grew up in the Donnelly area and was a life long member of Kongsvinger Lutheran Church, where she was confirmed in 1963 by Reverend Philip Nelson. She began her schooling in the Donnelly area before attending Morris High School, graduating in 1966. On September 7, 1968, Bev was united in marriage to Michael Hurlbut at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church. To this union, four children were born: Corey, Craig, Nicole, Kirby. Following their marriage, the couple lived and worked in numerous communities over the next several years. Eventually, Bev made her home in Herman where she worked a variety of jobs, including bartending and working as a caregiver for REM. After retiring due to failing health, Bev continued to live in the Herman/Donnelly area until becoming a resident of the Barrett Care Center in December 2011. She continued living there until the time of her death.
Bev will always be remembered as somebody who liked to keep busy and have a lot of fun. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and always looked forward to going out on Friday nights with "her girls." Most of all, she enjoyed being with her grandchildren and following all of their events.
Beverly died on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the Barrett Care Center in Barrett, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 63.
She is survived by four children: Corey (Kristin Gjerset) Hurlbut of Sauk Rapids, Craig (Sarah) Hurlbut of Mesa, AZ, Nicole (Jason) Armstrong of Farwell and Kirby Hurlbut of Queen Creek, AZ; eleven grandchildren: Taya Hurlbut, Chloe Hurlbut, Shayla Hurlbut, Chelsey Hurlbut, Skylar Hurlbut, Sydney Hurlbut, Alexis McLaughlin, Kody Armstrong, Bailey Armstrong, Rylee Armstrong, and Gavin Armstrong; one sister, Janice (Dennis) Melchert of Alexandria; special friend, Bob Winther of Herman and her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers for the service are Bev's children, Jason Armstrong and Kristin Gjerset. Bev's grandchildren, Bob Winther, and her "Friday night girls," Rita Kaiser and Deloris Nordstrom will serve as honorary pallbearers. Sue Erdahl-Nelson will serve as organist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of arrangements.
