Beverly Murphy

Beverly Ann Murphy, daughter of Jacob and Alice (Degendorfer) Henrichs, was born August 26, 1931 in Morris, Minnesota. Beverly grew up on a farm in Rendsville Township and attended rural school and graduated from Morris High School in 1949. Following her education she worked at Harts Grocery and Knowles Dept. Store. She was active in church and 4-H and especially enjoyed the 4-H radio speaking contests, in which she competed at the state level. Beverly was united in marriage to Raymond Murphy on May 23, 1953, in Morris and they were blessed with eight children: Mark, Craig, Jeanne, Mary, Thomas, Patrick, Colleen and Alice.
Beverly and Raymond farmed in Horton Township until 1987 when they moved to Rogers, Arkansas. Beverly worked at R and J’s Restaurant as a hostess for 14 years. In 2002, they returned to Alexandria, Minnesota, to retire.
Beverly
was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Morris; St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Rogers, Arkansas and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Alexandria, Minnesota. Beverly enjoyed gardening, poetry and music. In Beverly’s life, there was no greater joy than visiting and celebrating with her family and friends.
Beverly
died at her home on Wednesday, October 15, after a courageous battle with cancer, having lived to reach the age of 77 years.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Raymond; eight children, Mark (Jane) Murphy, Eureka Springs, AR, Craig (Joanie) Murphy, Morris, Jeanne (Terry) Hetland, Osakis, Mary (Ron) Krueger, Alexandria, Tom (Ruth) Murphy, Rogers, AR, Pat Murphy, Eureka Springs, AR, Colleen (Curt) Schaffran, Apple Valley, Alice (Bruce) Bosek, Lowry, 18 grandchildren. 6 step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Beverly is survived by three sisters, Jeanette (Jim) Saunders, Benson, MN, Patsy Bludorn and friend Denis Feneis, St. Cloud, MN, Virginia (Gary) Brumm, Perham, MN and three brothers, Delbert (Bev) Henrichs, New Richmond, WI, Roger (Kathy) Henrichs, Huntley, MT and Perry (Pricilla) Henrichs, Morris, MN and one brother-in-law, Clarence Oletzke, Rogers, MN and also survived by Rays family, Bill Murphy, Des Moines, IA, George (Genny) Murphy, Menomonie, WI, Rosalys Weiler and Mary Ellen Montonye, both of Morris and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Alice Henrichs; one sister, Barb Oletzke and brothers-in-law, Bud Bludorn, Maurice Weiler and Paul Montonye.
Serving as pallbearers for the service are: Beverly’s grandchildren: Erin Murphy, Jason Hetland, Tyler Hetland, Adam Krueger, Matthew Schaffran and Shane Bosek. Honorary pallbearers are Beverly’s grandchildren: Missy Crockett, Nicole Nortunen, Breanna Gould, Kent Hetland, Josiah Hetland, Joshua Hetland, Brandon Hetland, Isaac Hetland, Jessie Krueger, Lauren Schaffran, Zach Schaffran and Shannon Bosek. Deb Mahoney will serve as pianist for the service with Ken and Linda Hodgson serving as vocalists/song leaders. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
