Funeral services for Beverly Pochardt of Starbuck will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Starbuck. Reverend Paul Johnson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Beverly Maureen Pochardt was born on August 12 1934 in Walden Township, Pope County, Minnesota to Walter and Sophie (Voxland) Schwendemann, She attended rural school through 6th grade and graduated from Starbuck High School in 1952. She attended regular services at Immanuel Lutheran Church and was confirmed April 3, 1949.
She was married on February 28, 1953 to her lifelong love Marvin Richard Pochardt at Immanuel Lutheran Church, they laid their roots in Walden Township where they farmed for 45 years and raised six children, Rhonda, Sherry, Richard, Scott, Pam, and Gregory. After retiring from farming in 2002 they moved into town in Starbuck, MN. They celebrated their 50th anniversary on February 28, 2003 with all their family and friends gathered around them at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Beverly was very close to her family with no distance impairing her ability to stay in touch and looked forward to special events that brought her family together. Her maternal instinct filtered down to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her passions in life included sewing, quilting, Christmas baking, bowling at the local Starbuck's bowling alley, card-playing at the Glenwood Senior Center, crossword puzzles, and the occasional trip to the casino. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and enjoyed going to the Metrodome and Target Field to watch them play, her favorite ball player was her husband Marvin, who played for the local Cyrus softball team with Kirby Puckett running in a close second.
After succumbing to a brief battle with cancer, she entered her eternal home on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the age of 78 surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Marvin Pochardt of Starbuck, MN; her six children, Rhonda (Arden) Holzheimer of Kimball, MN, Sherry (Thomas) Rombach of North Platte, NE, Richard Pochardt of Starbuck, MN, Scott (Bobbi) Pochardt of Morris, MN, Pam (Lee) Tangen of Starbuck, MN, and Greg (Janelle) Pochardt of West Fargo, ND; She had 18 loving grandchildren and 23 loving great grandchildren; her brother, Walter (Dagny) Schwendemann of Starbuck, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandson Aaron Holzheimer.
Organist for the service was Dee Syverson and the soloist was Arne Pederson. Active pallbearers were Andrew Rombach, Thomas Rombach, and Chris Rombach, Adam Holzheimer, and Arden Holzheimer, Micheal Tangen, Casey Tangen, and Lee Tangen. The honorary pallbearers were Sara, Megan, Jill, Katie, Hannah, Ethan, Sweet Pea, Jason, Shelli, Shawn, Brett and Britany.
Her passing will leave a lasting impression felt by all who met and knew her well.
