Funeral services for Bonnie Thedin will be held Monday, March 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Federated Church in Morris. Reverend Jennifer Amy-Dressler will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 and an Eastern Star Service to follow at Federated church in Morris. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be a private family burial.
Bonnie Beth Thedin passed away on March 10, 2011 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN with her husband Jim by her side. She was 76 years old.
Bonnie, daughter of Alfred and Elvina Bosworth, was born June 28, 1934 in White Lake, SD. She grew up and went to school in Plankinton and Mitchell, SD. In high school, Bonnie was a member of a group called the "Dizzy Dozen" whom she remained friends with her whole life. She also was a talented baton twirler throughout high school.
In 1952 she graduated high school and moved to Kansas City to attend airline school. Bonnie lived in Washington D.C. and Milwaukee, WI among other places during her time working as a radio operator for the airlines. She moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in 1956 where she attended Northwest Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology. There she met James F. Thedin. They were married on April 18, 1957. After graduating, Bonnie worked as a medical lab technician at St. Lukes Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
Bonnie and Jim moved to Morris, MN in 1959 where they ran the Thedin Motel for 28 years. Bonnie graduated from the University of Minnesota Morris in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology.
Bonnie loved to travel and has visited all 50 states. She has also traveled to Canada, Mexico, and Europe in addition to numerous cruises. Jim and Bonnie were avid motorcyclists and did many long distance trips together.
She was a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts of America and was a Girl Scout Troop leader for more than 10 years. She was also a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. She was initiated into Corinthian Chapter #77 on March 28, 1961. She served as Worthy Matron in 1969 and 1979. She was Conductress 1991-1992, Marshall 1992-1993; Star Points: Ruth, 1989-1991 and Esther from 1994 to present.
Bonnie was an active member of the Federated Church in Morris, MN.
Bonnie was survived by her husband: James Thedin; three daughters; Jane (John) Lawless of The Villages, FL, Tracy (Jeremy) Head of Madison, WI, and Nancy (Michael) Silbernagel of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren: Lithe Gunderson, Lukas Gunderson, Korbin Head, and Ruby Silbernagel; a brother and two sisters: Tom Bosworth, Audrey Sonne, and Diana Henline; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Don Bosworth.
