Funeral services for Bradley Oksendahl of Hancock, MN will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock. Reverend Julius Miller will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Military honors will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW and AmVets.
Bradley Duane Oksendahl was born July 28, 1927 in Rugby, ND to Mabel and Ingvald Oksendahl. He attended school in Rugby and graduated in 1944 and received the FFA State Farmers degree. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on April 12, 1945 during WWII and was discharged Aug. 1, 1946. After retiring from the Navy, he started school at the North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, ND. He entered a two year trade course for electrician, welding and business fundamentals and graduated with an electrical/welding degree.
He met Lois Dokken from Rugby, ND and they were married Oct. 24, 1948 in Wahpeton, ND. They resided in Wahpeton where Brad was employed with a construction company building the first power lines in Sisseton, SD. Brad moved to Hancock, MN in 1949 where he worked for Gerald Cass at the Hancock Telephone Company. In 1957 he took over management. Then in 1976 he purchased the company. Brad retired and sold the company in 1986, moving to the lake he enjoyed many years of good fishing and created many memories with friends and family. In 2005 they moved back to Hancock to be closer to family and friends, while actively watching grandkids participate in sporting events.
Brad was a charter member (54 years) of the Hancock Lion's Club, an active member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Hancock, serving on the church council and a Sunday school teacher. Brad was very active in the community serving on the Hancock City Council, fire department, and city Mayor. Brad enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading history books, gardening and playing cards. He loved his time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Hancock; daughter Marcia (Gary) Greiner of Hancock; son Ken (Nancy) Oksendahl, of Chanhassen, MN; daughter Gail (James) Norland of Hallock, MN; daughter Donna (Tom) Craigmile of East Grand Forks, MN; one brother, Merwyn (Marlene) Oksendahl, Rugby, ND; two sisters, Norma (Mel) Blessum, Rugby, ND and Ione (and the late Sigfrid) Grove, Rugby, ND and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Organist was Sandra Pahl with the congregation singing Brad's favorite hymns. Honorary pallbearers were the grandchildren, great grandchildren, the Hancock Lions Club members and all who called him a friend. Pallbearers were Roger Duncan, Earl Meichsner, Larry Greiner Jr, Dave Miller, Larry Ascheman, Don Greiner and Dennis Schroeder.
