Funeral services for Calvin Bumgardner of Morris, will be held Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Evangelical Free Church in Morris, MN, with Pastor Hector Franco officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Herman, MN.
Calvin Cecil Bumgardner was born on June 16, 1937, to Arthur and Ida (Siebert) Bumgardner in Roseville Township, Grant County, MN, where he grew up. In 1953, Calvin joined the Army National Guard, serving two years, before being honorably discharged. Following his military service, he became an over the road truck driver and dedicated many years to his profession, visiting numerous places and meeting many people. Calvin married Edna Hill on January 21, 1956 and together they raised eight children. After the passing of his first wife, Calvin was united in marriage to Janice Smith on October 26, 1991 at the Evangelical Free Church in Morris, by pastor Michael Sager.
Calvin enjoyed fishing with his family and friends, creating a lot of happy memories. He attended Bible studies and was involved with Special Touch Ministries. Above all, Calvin treasured spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, always cherishing the moments they shared together. His strong faith and commitment to his loved ones never wavered, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Calvin passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at West Wind Village. He was 87 years old.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Janice Bumgardner of Morris; his children, Geneve (Doug) Richter of Amery, WI, Dale (Linda) Bumgardner of Worthington, Julie (Gary) Logan of Alexandria, Larry (Barbara) Bumgardner of Park Rapids, James (Peggy) Bumgardner of Culver, OR, Gerald (Stephanie) Bumgardner of Laporte, and Rodney (Dawn) Bumgardner of Elbow Lake; step-children, Kyle (Debra) Smith of Herman, and Christin (Paul) Klimek of Alexandria; 26 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; brother, Orrin (Ruth) Bumgardner of Blaine, and sister, Arlene (Walter) Olson of Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edna Bumgardner; daughter, Rachel Bumgardner; granddaughter, Mariah Loftness; and brother, Melvin Bumgardner.
