The funeral for Carol Dorothy Hickman, of Morris, will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, with Reverend Dell Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home, Morris and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery, Morris.
Carol Dorothy Hadler, daughter of Alfred and Edna (Bahnsen) Hadler was born on March 14, 1937 at Morris, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm south of Alberta, and graduated from Morris High School. After her schooling, Carol moved to Minneapolis and worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone, Sears Company and the Federal Reserve Bank. She was united in marriage to George Hickman on April 25, 1961. The couple lived and farmed in the Alberta area for many years, where Carol also worked at the USDA Soil Lab, as a cook at Sax's Café in Donnelly, for the Jurgenson's Super Valu and as a bus driver for the Morris Public Schools.
Carol enjoyed Bingo, crossword puzzles, going to casinos and the game station network. She also enjoyed being outdoors, where she loved to hunt, fish and spend time at the family lake cabin. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren Dylan, Amber and Henry.
Carol died on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. She was 75 years old.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, George, Morris; two sons, Edward (Sadie) Hickman, Chokio and Mark Hickman, Donnelly; one daughter, Deann (Jason Fjeld) Recker, Morris; two grandsons, Dylan Recker, Morris and Henry Hickman, Chokio; one granddaughter, Amber Recker, Morris; one brother Darrell (Vionne) Hadler, Morris; one sister, Joyce (Dennis) Schultz, Benson; and several nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harlan Hadler and Wallace Halder, and her father and mother-in-law, Henry and Blanche (Dickson) Hickman.
