Carol Tuttle

December 11, 1924 — August 25, 2007

Carol, daughter of Henry, Jr. and Sophia (Mauch) Burmeister, was born December 11, 1924, in Graceville, Minnesota. She graduated from Chokio High School in 1942 and continued her education at the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. Carol's career as a secretary and stenographer began in Honolulu, Hawaii with the War Department at the Hawaii Ordinance Depot in 1944. After the war ended, she returned stateside in 1947. She worked in Morris; Portland, Oregon; and Minneapolis, where she began her career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and was eventually transferred to Aurora, Colorado. Carol retired with the FAA in December 1981.

Carol was very active in her community and was a founding member of the Supersonic Speakers Toastmistress Club, now known as ITC or International Training Communications. She was also very active in the Aurora Area Business and Professional Women's Club and served in many of the board positions including president. She volunteered for the election commission and was actively involved in the political process. Carol's hobbies included sewing, arts and crafts, bike riding, reading and gardening.

Carol died on Saturday, August 25, 2007, at the Mountain Vista Health Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, having lived to reach the age of 82 years.

She is survived by one daughter: Diana Tuttle of Roswell, New Mexico; special niece and caregiver: Julie (Allan) Hartung of Arvada, Colorado; sisters: Shirley (Clyde) Augsburger of Berne, Indiana and Bonita Dallenbach of Morris; sister-in-law: JoAn Burmeister of Chokio and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son: Thomas Tuttle; one brother: Charles Henry Burmeister and one sister: Barbara Robbins.

Serving as pallbearers for the service are: Harvey Burmeister, Nathan Burmeister, Allan Hartung, Alvin Mauch, Jeff Pauly and Wayne Peterson. Honorary pallbearer is Harvey Dean Dallenbach. JoAnne Foley will serve as organist for the service with Barb Wilts serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
