Carrie Lynn Riley, daughter of Robert and Barbara (Benson) Riley, was born September 30, 1962 in Morris, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended school, graduating from Morris High School in 1981. Carrie continued her education at MSU in Moorhead, Minnesota, before attending the University of Minnesota, Morris. Carrie continued to live in Morris and worked for Henry's Foods. She worked for her uncles John and Joe Riley at Riley Bros Construction for a short time before going back to Henry's Foods in Alexandria.
Carrie was a warm caring person; her smile was contagious. Her nieces and nephews were a very important part of her life. She always wanted to know how they were doing. She loved teasing and goofing around with them and making everyone laugh. Carrie spent many hours shoveling snow for her mom and making sure Barb's car was ok. If Barb needed anything else she was the errand runner. She also enjoyed playing bar bingo with her mom. Carrie and her dad, Bob spent countless hours in their garden of plenty and always shared with family and the local community. Carrie spent many an hour with her siblings playing ball and ice skating in Wells Park. Growing up, Carrie always enjoyed sports and played softball for many years, making countless friends. She still enjoyed Twins baseball and Vikings football was her favorite. Super Bowl Sunday was her favorite "holiday." Carrie collected many Vikings memorabilia and dressed up for the events. Ice fishing was another thing Carrie enjoyed, either spearing or angling. She had countless jobs in her younger years, but found a place at Henry's Foods for many of them. Along with family, Carrie had many many friends from softball teams and tournaments, bowling, to any and all Vikings events that she attended. Carrie had countless friends…. too many to name.
Carrie died on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. She lived to 52 years.
She is survived by her mother, Barb Riley of Morris; two sisters, Julie (Tom) Tritz of Farwell and Shawn Riley (Jerry Niemann) of Clear Lake, SD; her brother, Tim (Deb) Riley of Cheyenne, WY; her step-mother, Judy Riley of Morris; a special friend, Sue Ronning of Morris; six nieces and nephews; four great nieces and nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
