Charles "Chuck" Andrew Teberg, 91, died on Monday, March 9, 2015, at Chris Jensen Health & Rehabilitation Center, Duluth.
He was born on November 24, 1923 in Erhard, Minnesota to Sarah and William Teberg, one of eight children.
Chuck served in the Army Airborne Engineers during World War II and sustained an injury which permanently made his right leg 4 ½ inches shorter than his left, leading him to design a shoe with a special insert and heel for the Veterans Administration. He never let his disability interfere with his life and was always active.
On March 2, 1946, he married Betty Shuck who preceded him in death in 1978.
On April 4, 1981, he married Verna Henriksen who preceded him in death in 2001.
An entrepreneur for most of his life, Chuck started the first cab service in Morris with his friend Orville Welch. When Orville moved to California, Chuck was hired by George Henle of Henle's Shoe Store in Morris, which he later owned and operated.
Chuck loved hunting and fishing, highlighted by Alaskan fishing trips, fly-in fishing trips to Canada and horseback riding in the mountains of Montana at age 65 to hunt elk.
He was a gifted craftsman, building an 18-foot wooden cabin cruiser in the 1960s and completing many other construction projects. Later in life, he designed and built intricate models from recycled plastic containers which he painted in great detail. His re-creation of the Budweiser Clydesdale horses and wagon was featured on WDAY TV in Fargo on April 1, 2012 in a piece entitled "Charlie Teberg – Bottle Artist."
Chuck was a member of American Legion Post #30 and VFW Post 612 in Fergus Falls where he spent his last years, living independently until entering Chris Jensen last September.
In addition to his two wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Wanda Kraayenbrink, brothers William, Henry and Louis and sisters Mary, Gertrude and Dorothy.
Chuck is survived by his son Curtis A. Teberg and wife, Kristin, of Duluth; son-in-law Richard D. Kraayenbrink of Hayti, South Dakota; grandchildren Rachel (Teberg) Salo and husband Jordan, Kari Kraayenbrink, Eric Kraayenbrink and Traci (Kraayenbrink) Bass; great-grandsons Traver, Carson and Brody; sister Hazel Evenson; and many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
