The funeral for Charlotte-Anne "Charlie" VanKempen, daughter of the late Dennis VanKempen and Jennifer VanKempen of Herman, MN will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Herman High School Gymnasium. Reverend Marlin Morhman will be officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to service at the Herman High School.
Charlotte-Anne "Charlie" VanKempen, daughter of Dennis and Jennifer (Hunt) VanKempen was born on January 1, 2006 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. The family lived in Herman, where Charlie was a 3rd grade student at the Herman Public School, where she was a member of the student council. Last August, Charlie was baptized at the Morris Evangelical Free Church in Morris, by Reverend Marlin Mohrman. She loved attending vacation bible school at the Morris Evangelical Free Church, Hosanna Worship Center in Morris and Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman.
Charlie was full of life and love. She was always active; playing outside with her sisters and brothers. Riding bike, playing at the park, horseback riding and shopping were some of her favorite things. Charlie was a member of the Girl Scouts of America and the Morris Karate Program and had earned her gold belt. She will always be remembered as a smart, caring and giving child, who was willing to help her friends in school or play.
Charlie died on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota due to injuries suffered from a farm accident near Herman.
She will be dearly missed by her mother and step-father: Jennifer and Brian (Craynon) VanKempen, Herman; her loving siblings: Caleb Hunt, Cody VanKempen, Carynne "C.J." VanKempen, Harleyjo Bailey, Caleigh VanKempen, Edward Craynon, Brady Craynon and Britanie-Anne Craynon; her grandparents: Charles "Smokey" (Joyce) VanKempen, Chokio, David (Jane) Hunt, Minneapolis and Marla Hunt, Herman; two aunts: Andrea (Patrick) Volkerding, Sebeka and Tamera (Bill) Konstenius, Embarrass, one uncle: Bradley Hunt, St. Paul; several great-aunts and great-uncles and many cousins. Charlie was preceded in death by her father, Dennis and grandmother, Judy VanKempen and great-grandparents, Harry and Darlene Hauglund, Nemo and Irene VanKempen, Erno and Frances Domenichetti and Gilbert and Joyce Hunt.
