Cheryl Ann Jergenson was born on February 23, 1947 in Morris, Minnesota; the oldest of five children to David and Julette (Gilbertson) Jergenson. She attended and graduated from Cyrus High School in 1965 and then attended St. Barnabas School of Nursing, earning her RN Degree. Cheryl worked in Minneapolis before returning to the Cyrus area. Cheryl and Carlos Bright started the 1st grade together in Cyrus and she had her eye on him from day one! He noticed her in 11th grade when he asked her to the Junior Prom. She eagerly accepted. The two were married in 1968 and raised three sons. Cheryl returned to nursing at the Morris Hospital, where she experienced great satisfaction in the Labor and Delivery area. Cheryl loved and was loved by her patients and demonstrated her gift of empathy with those in end-of-life care. She was also an OB Nurse on the pig farm – and took social privileges away from the pigs! Cheryl also used her nursing skills in the community and was the parish nurse at her church.

She was an enthusiastic supporter of her children and grandchildren in all of their sporting events – even to the point of passing out at one of her son’s games and had to be carried out of the gym! Cheryl was known for her wonderful entertaining gifts and was an excellent cook. She kept a spotless house, enjoyed gardening, singing, Bible studies, and regular biking and walking with Carlos. Cheryl’s personal appearance was top-notch – always having matching shoes and jewelry and not a hair out of place! She loved shopping with her friends. Carlos and Cheryl loved traveling together and wintering in Florida.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Carlos; her sons: Todd (Heidi) Bright of Kensington and their children, Jacob and Lexi, Peter (Melissa) Bright of Alexandria and their children, Caitlin, Tyler, and Nate, and Ryan (Missy) Bright of Herman and their children, Boe Brunson and Anna Bright; father, David Jergenson; siblings: Duane (Wendy) Jergenson, Lavonne (Greg) Simmons, Gloria (Bruce) Johnson and Dan Jergenson; sister-in-law, Peggy (Lyle) Christensen; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Julette; and her brother-in-law, Daryl.

Cheryl died on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the age of 77.
