Chester Cordell Larson of Donnelly, MN, finished his earthly chores on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the JA Wedum Hospice House in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. He was 82 years old.
Visitation for Chester will be on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 4-8 pm with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, Minnesota.
The funeral for Chester will be a private service at the Kongsvinger Lutheran Church with Reverend Michael Nelson officiating. He will be buried at the Kongsvinger Lutheran Cemetery.
Chester Cordell Larson, son of Christian and Mabel (Strand) Larson was born on September 16, 1934 in Morris, Minnesota. He grew up in Donnelly Township, helping on the family farm and attended school in Alberta. Chester was baptized and confirmed at the Kongsvinger Lutheran Church near Donnelly. He graduated Salutatorian from the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, in 1951. After his schooling, Chester began farming. He married his favorite roller-skating partner Gloria Satter on March 21, 1954 at the First Lutheran Church in Morris. The couple made their home on the family farm in Donnelly Township, where Chester was involved with farming until the time of his death.
He was a member of Kongsvinger Lutheran Church, where he sang in the church choir, men's quartet, he held a variety of church positions and was the church custodian. Chester also was a board member of the Stevens County FSA and served as chairman of the Donnelly Township Board.
Chester loved talking farming, making Krumkake and was a famous lutefisk cooker. He was a big supporter of Morris Tiger athletics and enjoyed attending band and choir concerts, including Barbershop. Time with family was cherished. He taught us all how to play cards and enjoy a nightly bowl of ice cream and to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gloria, Donnelly, MN; one son, Charles (Philip Spoher) Larson, Minneapolis, MN; two daughters, Jane (Eric) Sassenfeld, Fridley, MN and Cindy Larson- Casselton, Moorhead, MN; two sisters, Pearl Amundson, Edina, MN and Shirley (Joe) Helsper, Tempe, AZ; four granddaughters, Natalie (David) Haugen, Beaverton, OR, Christina (Joe) Kurpierz, Blaine, MN, Hannah (Adam) Christensen, St. Paul, MN and Amanda Casselton, Minneapolis, MN; one step-grandson, Eric Sassenfeld Jr., Colorado Springs, CO; three great-granddaughters, Leila and Ariana Hausia-Haugen, Beaverton, OR and Josie Kurpierz, Blaine, MN; nine godchildren and several nieces and nephews. Chester was preceded in death by his parents, one son-in-law, Rusty Casselton and one brother-in-law, Richard Amundson.
In Lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials are given to the Kongsvinger Cemetery Fund, JA Wedum Hospice House or the Clare House of Minneapolis.
