Christine Rach, age 34, died March 28, 2020, at her home in Milbank, SD. Christine was and will forever be a cherished daughter, sister, auntie, Marine, sports fan, and friend. If you're reading this and wondering who "Christine" is, you also may have known her by her childhood nickname, "Bean-er."
Christine was born August 16, 1985 in Morris, MN, and life was pretty good on the prairie. Wandering the woods and pastures near the family's home, playing t-ball, and caring for numerous cats and dogs were special activities in her younger years.
As she grew, Christine was known for friendship and laughter. She graduated from Morris Area High School and went-on to spend time at the University of St. Thomas before enlisting in the US Marine Corp. Some wondered if her joking and sassy spirit might pose a challenge, but her family and friends learned to recognize her grit as a force multiplier for Camp LeJeune. Christine looked for humor in her disburser work on the base and greatly expanded her friendship circle through the many service member relationships she made during her time in South and North Carolina. Her Marine combat training and natural athletic ability endowed her a beast-mode prowess--that gal could run one fast mile.
Upon discharge from the Marines, a few twisting-turning roads led her back to Morris where she worked in retail and hospitality roles. While she remained a bit bold and cheeky, she shared her smile with so many people. Through her bartending work, she met, entertained, and became friends with many different folks. In 2017, Christine met her fiancé, Jim Hartman. As best friends, Christine and Jim spent much time fishing, enjoying a relaxing drive, and chilling at home with fur-friends.
Christine is survived by her parents, Tim and Cathy Rach; sister, Bridget Rach (Dustin Pease); brother, Patrick (Amber) Rach; nieces--Stella and Margot Pease and Ashtyn Rach; a near-sister, Amanda Duncan; fiancé, Jim Hartman; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Martha and Herman Rach; Gladys and Charles Flick; an aunt, Patti Rach; and an uncle, Charles Flick, Jr.
Due to travel restrictions, a remembrance and celebration of Christine's life will be planned for a later date. Think of her every time you cheer for the MN Gophers and Twins, and if you don't currently cheer for those teams, raise a toast and remember Christine! Semper Fidelis.
