A visitation for Christine will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck, one hour prior to services.

Christine “Chris” Marie Stark was born March 26, 1956, in New Richmond, WI, the daughter of Jeanne (Fabeck) and Lawrence Stark. She was raised in Kensington, MN and graduated from Kensington high school in 1974.

Chris was married in 1978, and although this relationship wasn't permanent, they did have 3 children together, Andrew, Samantha, and Jesse, who were Chris’s pride and joy. From class projects to field trip chaperone, she always found ways to be involved. While she was always proud of her children, she took incredible joy in her grandchildren. She was the epitome of a proud grandma. Kindergarten handprints and other class art projects from her grandsons adorned her fridge and walls. She loved her family fiercely and was known to be a mama bear when needed.

Chris was quick-witted, she loved a good joke and making others laugh. Her story telling skills would leave you with tears down your cheeks and sides hurting from laughter. She had strong opinions, and would speak her mind, but she also had the biggest heart and was known for giving away her belongings to anyone that was in need. She was the type of person that would show up if you needed her.

Chris’s resume was quite impressive as she worked in a wide variety of roles throughout her life. She was a farmer, home maker, field hand, factory worker, cook, nurses aid, caretaker, and more. She had a work ethic like nonother and tackled any project head on. She was known by many of her former co-workers as someone who worked hard, but also would make you laugh even harder. There were always shenanigans afoot when Chris was working.

Christine always dreamed of obtaining a higher education and completed her Bachelor of Science degree attending College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. It was one of Chris’s greatest accomplishments and she put in many long nights of studying while working full-time. Chris always told her children that they should pursue some form of higher education as “it was something that could never be taken away from them,” and it gave her great joy to finally achieve her dream. She graduated in 2007 with a B.S. in Speech Communications.

Dementia stole the last few years from Chris, but that didn’t stop her from loving her family regardless. With all of her struggles, she persevered. She once told her children, I want on my headstone, “Here lies Chris Stark. She tried and tried, and then she died.” She would then laugh at her own joke, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. She tried her hardest no matter what she was doing or what life would throw at her. She never backed down from a challenge.

Chris left this world for her next journey peacefully with her children surrounding her on December 18, 2023.

She is survived by her children: Andy (Kate) Aslagson of Starbuck, Sam (Dan) Giacomini of Broomfield, CO, and Jesse Aslagson of Starbuck; grandchildren: Matthew Aslagson, Eli Aslagson, Noah Aslagson, and Riley Giacomini; sisters: Ellen (Dan) Walther, Marilu Belgum, Dorothy (Larry) Sayre, Noreen (Brian) Thorpe, Jackie (Dan) McFarlane, and Annie (Jim) Koranda; brothers: Larry Stark and Mike (Paula) Stark; brother-in-law, Dub Weidenbach; and many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents: Lawrence and Jeanne Stark; sister, Sue and her first husband John Green; sister-in-law, Eileen Stark; brother-in-law, Glen Belgum; and close family relative Jerry Shaughnessy.
