There will be a visitation for Corey Anderson of New Hope, MN on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. with a service at 2:00 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Reverend Marlin Mohrman will be officiating.
Corey Russell Anderson, son of Russell and Joanne (Schubert) Anderson, was born December 13, 1968 in Morris, Minnesota, where he grew up and was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. Corey attended Morris Public Schools, graduating in 1987. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota Morris, where he received a BA in Psychology. He then attended Ramsey Community College for computers and business. At this same time, Corey served in the United States Army National Guard for 14 years, where he also became a Lieutenant. Following his schooling, Corey worked as a sales representative; he did computer technical support; he was a contractor and computer trainer. In 2005 Corey purchased a house in New Hope, Minnesota and was working for Sunstar Americas Inc. In 2012, the company honored Corey with an award "In recognition of outstanding sales and performance, Sunstar proudly presents Corey Anderson as a member of the Pinnacle Club".
Corey was an ardent believer in God. He read anything that dealt with spiritual scripture. He was also a wonderful listener and provided help to those he was able to provide physical or spiritual aid. Corey enjoyed fishing, hunting deer, ducks, grouse and pheasants, traveling, sky diving, golfing, art and growing plants.
Corey was on a fishing trip with friends in Anchorage, Alaska, where he died August 3, 2013 as a result of pancreatic cancer. He was 44 years old.
He is survived by his father: Russell Anderson of Morris; his mother: Joanne (Wilmer) Thun of Parkers Prairie; three siblings: Brian Anderson of Ramsey, Chris Anderson of Morris and Kelli Jo (Joey) Schmidgall of Hancock; three nephews: Derek Anderson, Ian and Aidan Schmidgall and one niece: Kara Schmidgall. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Helen Anderson Christenson, Walter Anderson, Amelia Schubert, Harvey Schubert; nephew: Brandon Anderson; aunt: Dorothy Waa and uncles: Don Conrad, Dennis Anderson and Len Floding.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
