Corey Allen Rohloff was born on April 22, 1969, to Lowell and Cindy (Thiel) Rohloff in Morris, Minnesota. He was the oldest of six children and always liked to make that known. Corey was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris and attended Morris Schools, graduating with the class of 1987. Following graduation, Corey moved to Brookings, South Dakota where he attended South Dakota State University, earning his degree in Animal Science. After graduation, he worked for Genetiporc and then Hilltop Swine in Morris. While at a hog barn near Westport, Minnesota, Corey met Dawn Douvier, and after some time, the two began dating and were married on September 16, 2000, at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. They made their home in Morris until 2005 when they moved to the cities, and then St. Cloud, and in 2019, they made their final move to Glenwood. Their marriage was blessed with two children: Mason and Ashley, who were the best thing that ever happened to him. While in St. Cloud, Corey attended St. Cloud State University and received his Accounting Degree. Due to health reasons, Corey was forced to leave the farm; and then worked various jobs, most recently, at Wal-Mart.
On Valentine’s Day of 2013, Corey received a liver transplant; this surgery saved his life, but wasn’t a success as Corey was hospitalized every two months from complications. The kids were in pre-school and kindergarten when the transplant happened and they were both more than ready to help care for their father, something that never changed and Corey was cared for by his wife and children until the very end.
Corey was a prankster in every sense of the word. At home or at work, he was always coming up with ways to scare people, pester his nieces and nephews, and irritate the kids – big or small! Corey was also a giving man, willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone who may need it. He loved motorcycles and westerns – he was convinced that he was born into the wrong era. Corey also enjoyed collecting Louis L’Amour books, he had all of them – 116 in all – that were leather with gold binding. In addition, he cherished the time that he spent with Dawn, Mason, and Ashley, and all family at the lake.
Corey died unexpectedly on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the Glacial Ridge Health Systems in Glenwood, Minnesota; he was 55 years old.
Corey is survived by his wife, Dawn of Glenwood; children: Mason and Ashley, both of Glenwood; parents: Lowell and Cindy Rohloff of Glenwood; brothers: Mike Rohloff of Wells, Jamie (Tricia) Rohloff of Morris, and David (Jean) Rohloff of Morris; sister, Tammy (Adam) Kaufman of Rogers; parents-in-law, Dale and Bernie Douvier; brothers-in-law: Tony (Mandy) Douvier, Derick (Kelly) Douvier, and Troy (Cheryl) Douvier all of Glenwood. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Corey is preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Rohloff; grandparents: Wayne and Vera Rohloff, George and Joyce Thiel, and Ardell Anderson; uncles and aunts: Larry Rohloff, Lanny Rohloff, Bonnie Weiler, and Susie Bolling; and cousins: Lonnie Rohloff and Ryan Berg.
