Corey Allan Swanson, son of Roger "Pat" Swanson and Connie (Pollard) Howey, was born January 4, 1972 in Morris, MN. He attended school in Chokio, where his love for sports began on the high school football field. Corey graduated from Chokio-Alberta High School in 1990. After graduation Corey entered the army, and began his basic training and AIT training at Fort Sill, OK. He served the first year of his tour in Desert Storm, but was later moved to Germany where he finished it. When Corey returned he continued his education at Saint Cloud State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He began teaching elementary education at St. Michael-Albertville Schools as well as several online classes. Corey went back on active duty for the military, and served four years at Fort Leonard Wood. In June of 2006, Corey and Kim were blessed with their son Connor. A couple of years later he moved to the Kansas City area where he worked for a military contracting company.
Family was a huge part of Corey's life, especially being a father. Corey dedicated much of his time and love to his son Connor throughout his life; whether it was watching him grow into the young man he is today or spending quality time together building and talking about trains. He loved every aspect of being a father, but most of all the happiness that Connor brought into his life every time they were together. Corey was also a proud uncle and godfather to his niece and nephew.
Corey died on Friday, June 27, 2014, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He lived to reach the age of 42 years.
He is survived by his son: Connor Swanson; mother and step-father: Connie (Spencer) Howey; brother: Darren Swanson; niece: Kendra Swanson; nephew: Zach Swanson; grandmother: Elizabeth "Betty" Pollard.
