Funeral services for Curtis Aaberg of Starbuck, MN will be held Friday, May 18, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Reverend Paul Johnson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Fron Lutheran Cemetery, rural Starbuck. Military rites will be provided by the Starbuck VFW and the Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard.

Curtis Melvin Aaberg, son of Melvin and Mary (Wyrick) Aaberg, was born September 27, 1949 in Starbuck, Minnesota. At a young age, his family moved to Minneapolis, where he grew up and received his schooling. Even though they lived in Minneapolis, Curtis spent his summer months back in Starbuck, living with family. On January 23, 1969, Curtis entered the United States Marine Corp, serving his country in Viet Nam. Following his discharge, he moved back to the Minneapolis area and began working in a factory job. Curtis was united in marriage to Jean Puttonen, to this union, three sons were born, Shawn, Eric and Mark. Jean passed away in January, 2005. Following her death, Curt moved back to Starbuck, where he has remained since that time. Most recently, after suffering a major heart attack, Curt lived in New Brighton, where he could be closer to his family.

Curtis died on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Health & Rehab of New Brighton in New Brighton, Minnesota. He lived to reach the age of 62 years.

He is survived by his step-mother: Carol Aaberg of Starbuck; three sons: Shawn (Tammy) Aaberg of Champlin, Eric Aaberg of Brooklyn Park and Mark Aaberg of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren: Andrew, Anthony and Tara Aaberg; three brothers: Ronald Aaberg of Brooklyn Park, John Aaberg of Bloomington and Randy Aaberg of White Bear Lake; two sisters: Pat Serie of Fridley and Barb (Les) Holen of Columbia Heights and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandchild: Justin Aaberg; wife: Jean and parents: Melvin and Mary.
Pallbearers for the service are: Nathan Serie, Brian Holen, Ronald Aaberg, John Aaberg, Andrew Aaberg and Randy Aaberg. Shari Opdahl will serve as organist for the service. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
