Funeral Services for Curtis Berg of Starbuck will be held Monday, October 28, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Starbuck with burial to follow. Reverend Paul Johnson will be officiating. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Starbuck Funeral Home.
Curtis Philip Berg, age 62, passed away peacefully at his home in Starbuck surrounded by family and friends on October 23, 2013.
He was born on November 19, 1950 to Cornelius and Phyllis (Evjen) Berg in Starbuck, Minnesota. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Glen Cary Lutheran Church. He attended St. Francis Elementary and High School, graduating in 1969. He attended Anoka Technical School for one year. Curt married Lou Ann Torguson on June 11, 1972.
Curt worked doing cement work in construction for Adolphson and Peterson. In 1974 they moved to Starbuck where he worked at Farmers Union. In 1978 Curt bought out his father's septic tank pumping business which he eventually sold and worked at Pope Douglas Solid Waste Plant. Following that he worked in the maintenance department at Pope County Court House and finished his career in the maintenance department at Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Curt's hobbies included deer hunting, fishing and an occasional trip to the casino. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Curt was preceded in death by his sister Susan Berg and his father Cornelius Berg.
He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Berg of Starbuck; daughters, Carrie (Todd) Krenz of Starbuck, MN and Aimee (Andy) Fredrickson of Castle Rock, Colorado; grandchildren, Aubrey Fredrickson, Brody Krenz and Rikka Krenz; brothers, Gary (Joyce) Berg, Dennis (Darlene) Berg, Daryle Berg all of Anoka, MN; sister, Shelly Grimsley (Gordy Espelien) of Starbuck along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
