Dale Anderson

The memorial service for Dale A. Anderson of Alexandria, MN formerly of Chokio will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio, with Reverend Gloria Anderson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Chokio Lutheran Cemetery, Chokio.

Dale Andrew Anderson, son of Lawrence and Edna (Balmer) Anderson, was born June 30, 1937 in Dolliver, Iowa, where he was baptized on February 22, 1938. At the age of 5, Dale's family moved to Chokio, Minnesota where he attended school and graduated from Chokio High School in 1955. In 1956, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany for two years. He received an honorable discharge in 1959. Following his discharge, Dale returned to Chokio to farm with his dad and brother, David. On September 13, 1980, Dale was united in marriage to Geraldine Oberg-Engels. Dale and Geri made their home on a farm near Beardsley, Minnesota. Dale continued to farm and sell seed, retiring in 2000. Geri died in 2011. Dale moved to Alexandria to be closer to his special friend, Verna Scheldorf.

Dale was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio and the VFW. He loved traveling, bowling, golfing. Spending time at their home on Lake Cowdry, where watching the loons, geese and ducks was a favorite past time. He enjoyed going to Beardsley on Tuesdays to shake dice with friends and meeting for coffee.

Dale died on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. He lived to 79 years.

He is survived by his friend: Verna Scheldorf of Alexandria and her family; one brother: David (Carol) Anderson of Chokio; two sisters: Eileen Kienzle of Box Elder, SD and Judy Barden of Clovis, CA; one sister-in-law: Linda Anderson of Breckenridge; three step-daughters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one brother: Robert Anderson.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
