Daniel Jon Carlson, 3 rd child born to Lauren and Barbara (Dorweiler) Carlson, was born June 10, 1961 in Minneapolis , Minnesota . Dan grew up and received his schooling in the Chokio, Minnesota area, graduating from Chokio-Alberta High School in 1979. He then went on to attend South Dakota State University in Brookings, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1983. He immediately began working as an independent operator for Wayne Transport. On February 4, 1983, he was married to Donna Groff, and to this union, their daughter Lindsay was born on May 27, 1984. In March of 1990, Dan met and fell in love with Vicki Iverson. In June of 1991, Dan, Vicki and Lindsay moved onto a hobby farm near Chokio. Vicki passed away on November 10, 2008. Dan continued to live on their farm near Chokio and work for Wayne Transport until the time of his death.

Dan enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and brothers. As a result of these hunting and fishing trips, he soon became known as “Dangerous Dan”, a name that has shadowed him since that time. Dan’s greatest source of pride and joy was always being Lindsay Rose’s dad. Dan was an irreplaceable part of his family and will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.
