Darlene Mae Holman (Fimreite) was born in Bagley, Minnesota on January 11th, 1938, to Andrew and Anna Fimreite (Erickson). She attended Clearbrook High School in Clearbrook, Minnesota where she graduated Salutatorian of her class in 1955. That fall she enrolled in college at B.S.T.C. (or as it was called back then, Bemidji State Teacher College) and graduated in 1957 with an A.A. (Associate in Arts) Degree.
While in college Darlene met her husband, Dave Holman, and they were married on March 29, 1958. They moved to Warroad, Minnesota where Dave got a job teaching in the high school. Dave and Darlene lived there for four years, and their three boys were born there. In the summer of 1962 the family moved to Morris where Dave accepted his next teaching assignment. They lived in an upstairs apartment (with three little boys!) which was not a very satisfactory arrangement, so after one year relocated to Hancock, a small town about 9 miles from Morris. Darla was born in the Morris hospital in 1966. The Holman Family moved to their current home in Morris in the summer of 1971. Dave taught at the Morris schools for 30 years.
Darlene worked at Bemidji Savings and Loan as a secretary: at the J.C. Penney store in Morris as a clerk, bookkeeper, in the catalog department, etc.: Morris Floral as bookkeeper: Villa of St. Francis as a CNA, and at the Stevens Community Medical Center with the home health department. After retiring 7 years ago Darlene started a small home business, (Darlene's Designs) doing desktop publishing, something she really enjoyed! She also donated her time and talents to various projects for numerous organizations, which includes the Courage Cottage and Lions Clubs.
Darlene has four children: Dan, Darryl, Dale and Darla. She also has six grandchildren: Hannah, Davad, Andrew, Sebastain, Alisha and Alison.
Darlene and Dave have done quite a bit of traveling, both in the U.S. and overseas. They have been to Norway and Sweden six or seven times and have also been to England for a Lions Club International Convention. Much time was also spent on traveling for the Lions Clubs here in the U.S. and Canada.
Darlene died on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 69 years.
She is survived by her husband: David Holman of Morris; four children: Daniel (Mary) Holman of Bloomington, Darryl (Debra) Holman of Bemidji, Dale (Sherry) Holman of Minneapolis and Darla Hennen of Morris; six grandchildren: Hannah Holman, Davad Holman, Andrew Holman, Sebastian Holman, Alisha Hennen and Alison Hennen; one sister: Shirley (George "Tiny") Knutson of Clearbrook; two brothers: Donald (Lucy) Fimreite of Sun City West, AZ and Duane Fimreite of Bagley as well as many nieces and nephews.
