The funeral for David C. Booen, of Starbuck, Minnesota will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, with Reverend Paul Johnson officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the Starbuck Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at the Fron Lutheran Cemetery, Starbuck.
David Christian Booen, son of Laurence and Lois (Branstner) Booen was born on March 30, 1945 at Bertha, Minnesota; graduating from Bertha High School in 1963. He entered the United States Army in 1965, serving during the Vietnam War, stationed in Bien Hoa. He was honorably discharged in 1967 and returned to Bertha. He later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he met Sharon Anderson. The couple was united in marriage on October 19, 1968 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in New Hope, Minnesota. They made their home in the Minneapolis area, where David worked for the Ziegler Company and later worked for Royal Tire Company, for over 25 years. He retired in 2008 and he and Sharon moved to Starbuck, Minnesota.
David was a proud member of the Alcoholics Anonymous, with sobriety of 33 years. He was a member of Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck and member of the Starbuck V.F.W. David enjoyed word search books, hunting and fishing.
David died on Friday, March 7, 2014 at his home in Starbuck, surrounded by his family. He was 68 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, Starbuck, MN; one son, James Booen, Minneapolis, MN; one daughter, Lisa (William Barnes) Fast, Starbuck, MN; and two grandchildren, Tyler (fiancé, Lauren Cain) Fast, Clarkfield, MN and Jessie (Thomas) Venable, Starbuck, MN; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Booen, Starbuck, MN and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George "Bill" Booen and an infant sister.
